Bir Billing is Asia's paragliding capital and one of the world's top five paragliding destinations. The combination of Billing as a take-off site (2,430m) and Bir as a landing zone (1,525m), with a 14 km flight path over the Kangra valley and consistent thermal winds, creates near-perfect conditions for paragliding 8–9 months a year. The Bir Billing Paragliding World Cup — held every October — attracts hundreds of competitive pilots from 50+ countries. Beyond paragliding, Bir has evolved into one of Himachal Pradesh's most interesting small towns — its Tibetan colony (one of the largest in India) gives it a cultural depth with excellent monasteries, Tibetan crafts and food. The surrounding hills offer excellent trekking, the tea gardens produce some of Himachal's finest teas, and the town's yoga and meditation scene attracts seekers from around the world. Bir Billing is the perfect destination for those who want adventure, culture and peace in equal measure — and it remains refreshingly uncrowded compared to Manali or McLeodganj.
