Chandigarh is unlike any other city in India. Rock Garden of Nek Chand

12 acres of fantastical sculptures from urban waste — created secretly from 1957 to 1975. Cascading waterfalls, amphitheatres, figures of dancers and warriors all built from broken bangles, ceramics and electrical waste. Entry ₹30. Allow 2 hours.

Capitol Complex (UNESCO 2016)

Le Corbusier's masterwork — the Legislative Assembly, High Court and Secretariat. Listed UNESCO World Heritage 2016. The Open Hand Monument (symbol of giving and receiving) is the city's icon. Guided tours available.

Sukhna Lake & Leisure Valley

An artificial lake with 3 km walking and cycling promenade. Rowing, paddleboating. The adjacent Leisure Valley — a chain of linked parks running through the city — is Chandigarh's beloved public space.

Rose Garden & Government Museum

The Zakir Hussain Rose Garden has 1,600+ rose varieties — magnificent February–March in full bloom. Government Museum has outstanding Gandhara sculpture and miniature painting collections.
