Pangong Tso Lake (4,350m)

Khardung La Pass (5,359m)

The world's highest motorable road — 38 km from Leh. Most visitors cross it on the way to Nubra Valley. The signboard at the top is mandatory selfie territory. Altitude sickness is real here — acclimatise in Leh first.

Thiksey & Hemis Monasteries

Thiksey (12-storey monastery resembling Potala Palace, 17 km from Leh) and Hemis (largest gompa in Ladakh, annual Hemis Festival in June/July) are the two essential monastery visits. Both have remarkable murals, thangkas and statues.

Nubra Valley & Hunder Sand Dunes
