Delhi to Pushkar is 395–415 km by road — a 6–7 hour drive via NH-48 (Delhi-Jaipur Expressway) and NH-58 through Ajmer.
Route: Delhi → Pushkar
Delhi → NH-48 → Jaipur bypass → Ajmer (via Nasirabad) → Pushkar (14 km from Ajmer).
Pushkar is separated from Ajmer by the Nag Pahar (Snake Mountain) hills — a short but winding pass between the two towns.
Pushkar — Sacred and Surreal
Pushkar is built around Pushkar Lake — one of the five sacred lakes (Panchkunds) of Hinduism. The town has 400+ temples including the only Brahma temple in the world. The famous 52 ghats surround the lake.
The town is also famous for being genuinely traveller-friendly — Israeli backpackers, yoga retreats, rooftop cafes with lake views, camel rides at the sand dunes.
Pushkar Camel Fair (November)
The Pushkar Camel Fair (Kartik Purnima — November full moon) is one of the world's largest livestock fairs — 200,000 camels, horses, and cattle traded over 5 days, plus folk music, acrobatics, and cultural programs. Hotels book out 4–6 months in advance.
Pushkar + Ajmer Combo
Dargah Sharif in Ajmer (14 km) — the most important Sufi shrine in South Asia — is always combined with Pushkar.
