July is monsoon season in Rishikesh and river rafting is suspended (Ganga is in flood during July-August). However, July has its own beauty — the hills are incredibly lush and green, waterfalls are at their fullest, and hotel rates are at yearly lows. Bungee jumping and other land activities continue. The Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage happens in July-August bringing huge crowds to the Haridwar-Rishikesh belt. If you want rafting, visit October to June. For trekking, September to November is excellent when trails are clear post-monsoon. EZPZ Taxi offers Delhi-Rishikesh trips all year — call +91-9871121217.

July in Rishikesh is a complicated time — there are reasons both to go and to avoid it. Here's an honest assessment:

What July Looks Like in Rishikesh

FactorJuly Reality
Temperature22–30°C — warm and humid
RainfallHeavy monsoon rain almost daily
Ganga RiverFlooded — fast, muddy, dangerous
CrowdsModerate — Indian visitors, fewer foreign tourists
AccommodationCheaper — 20–40% off peak rates

What You CANNOT Do in July

  • White water rafting: COMPLETELY CLOSED — the Ganga is too fast and dangerous for rafting July–August. No legitimate operator will take you. Anyone offering rafting in July is taking an illegal and life-threatening risk — avoid.
  • Camping near the river: Flooded banks make riverside camping dangerous
  • Bungee jumping at Jumpin Heights: Usually operational but check with them directly

What You CAN Do in July

  • Yoga and meditation: Ashrams are fully operational — many retreat programs run year-round
  • Beatles Ashram visit: The abandoned ashram and its forest setting is actually atmospheric in the monsoon — lush green, dramatic light
  • Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat: Happens every evening regardless of season — very beautiful in rain
  • Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula: The bridges and surrounding area are accessible — good for the town experience
  • Neelkanth Mahadev Temple (32 km): A trek through incredibly green monsoon forest — stunning in July

Verdict

July in Rishikesh is fine for a spiritual/yoga retreat but not for adventure activities. Come October–June for the complete experience with rafting.
