The best time to visit Jaipur is October to March (winter season) when the weather is cool and pleasant with temperatures ranging from 8°C to 25°C. January is the coolest month and coincides with Jaipur Literature Festival (late January) — the world's largest literary festival. February has Jaipur's famous Kite Festival (Makar Sankranti). April to June is very hot (40°C+) but forts and palaces are less crowded and hotels are cheaper. Avoid July–September (monsoon) for outdoor sightseeing though the landscape is lush and green. Jaipur can be visited year-round but has a strong seasonal variation. Here's a month-by-month guide:

Month-by-Month Jaipur Weather

MonthTempConditionsVerdict
Jan–Feb8–22°CCool, clear, dryExcellent
March14–28°CWarming up, still clear✅ Very good
April–May22–42°CHot and dry⚠️ Manageable, fewer crowds
June28–45°CPre-monsoon — extreme heat❌ Avoid
July–August25–38°CMonsoon rains, humidity⚠️ Lush and green, quiet
September24–36°CEnd of monsoon, cleaner air✅ Good
October–November15–30°CPerfect weather, peak season✅ Best
December8–22°CCool evenings, pleasant days✅ Excellent

Best Months Overall: October–March

October and November hit the sweet spot — post-monsoon clarity, pleasant days (25°C), cool evenings, and the pink sandstone of Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal glowing beautifully in the clear air.

December–February is also excellent but evenings can be cold (8–10°C) — bring a warm layer for Nahargarh Fort sunset.

Festival Calendar

  • Jaipur Literature Festival (January): World's largest free literary festival — 5 days at Diggi Palace. Huge crowds but extraordinary speakers
  • Elephant Festival (Holi week, March): Decorated elephants, polo, processions — spectacular
  • Teej Festival (July–August): Monsoon festival, women in traditional dress on swings — colourful
