A full day in Agra beyond the Taj is easily filled. Morning (6–9 AM): Taj Mahal at sunrise. Mid-morning (9:30–11 AM): Agra Fort (2.5 km from Taj) — magnificent red sandstone fort with great views of Taj Mahal from the ramparts. Afternoon: Fatehpur Sikri (40 km, 1 hour drive) — Akbar's abandoned Mughal capital, remarkably well preserved. Evening: Itmad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj) — small, exquisitely decorated white marble tomb. Mehtab Bagh — garden across the river, best sunset view of Taj. Agra market for marble souvenirs and Mughlai food. EZPZ Taxi's day trip covers all these in one booking — call +91-9871121217.

Agra has enough beyond the Taj Mahal to fill a rich, complete day. Here's a full-day Agra itinerary that goes well beyond the famous white marble:
Full-Day Agra Itinerary
9:00–11:30 AM — Taj Mahal (East Gate entry)
Start at the East Gate (least crowded). The Taj at 9 AM has the best light and manageable crowds. Focus: main mausoleum, reflecting pool, side pavilions. Entry: Indians ₹250, Foreigners ₹1,300.
12:00–2:00 PM — Agra Fort (UNESCO, 2.5 km from Taj)
The true headquarters of the Mughal Empire. Built in red sandstone by Akbar (1565), expanded in white marble by Shah Jahan. Must-see inside:
- Musamman Burj: Octagonal tower where Shah Jahan spent his last 8 years imprisoned — the Taj is visible from here (deeply poignant)
- Sheesh Mahal: Mirror-inlaid ceiling that creates starlight from a single candle
- Diwan-i-Khas: White marble hall of private audience
Entry: Indians ₹40, Foreigners ₹550. Allow 1.5–2 hours. Closed Fridays.
2:30–3:30 PM — Lunch
Esphahan at ITC Mughal or Peshawri (best biryani in Agra). Or try the local Agra ke Pethe shops on MG Road for Agra's famous pumpkin confectionery.
4:00–5:00 PM — Itmad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj, 6 km)
Built 1622–1628 by Nur Jahan — the first Mughal structure entirely in white marble with pietra dura stone inlay. Directly precedes and influenced the Taj's style. Far fewer visitors — peaceful and photogenic. Entry: Indians ₹35, Foreigners ₹310. Closed Fridays.
Optional: Mehtab Bagh (Moonlight Garden)
Directly across the Yamuna from the Taj — best rear-view of the Taj and the gardens. Extraordinary sunset vantage point (entry: ₹300 foreigners).
Fatehpur Sikri (40 km, 1 hour from Agra)
If you have a full day and want to add one more extraordinary site — Akbar's ghost capital. Add 3 hours to your Agra itinerary, depart Agra early (8 AM) or go on the way back to Delhi.
