Pushkar is one of India's most sacred and unique destinations. Brahma Temple is the world's only major temple dedicated to Lord Brahma — extremely sacred. Pushkar Lake has 52 ghats and bathing here is considered holy. Savitri Temple on a hilltop offers the best sunrise view over Pushkar — accessible by ropeway or a 30-minute hike. The Pushkar Bazaar sells silver jewellery, colourful textiles, and rose products. Rangji Temple is a magnificent Vaishnava temple with a South Indian style tower. Pushkar Camel Fair (November) is one of the world's largest camel fairs. EZPZ Taxi offers Delhi-Pushkar outstation trips — call +91-9871121217.

Pushkar is one of India's most unique towns — simultaneously sacred Hindu pilgrimage site, backpacker haven, and desert oasis. Here's everything worth seeing:

Sacred Sites

Pushkar Lake & 52 Ghats

The sacred lake is the heart of Pushkar — pilgrims take ritual dips on specific ghats for different purposes. Brahma Ghat is the main one. Photography of people bathing is strongly discouraged — be respectful. The lake is surrounded by ghats and whitewashed temples.

Brahma Temple

The only major Brahma temple in the world — a rare oddity in Hinduism where Brahma (the creator) is rarely worshipped directly. Built in the 14th century. Shoes must be left outside. Free entry, very active with pilgrims and priests.

Savitri Temple (Ratnagiri Hill)

Above Pushkar on a rocky hill — 1.5 km hike or ropeway (₹80 return). Dedicated to Brahma's first wife Savitri. The views of Pushkar Lake and the surrounding desert from the top are extraordinary — especially at sunset.

Rangji Temple

Beautiful temple to Lord Rangji (a form of Vishnu) — mix of Rajput and South Indian architectural styles, unusual for this region.

Desert Experiences

Camel Rides & Desert Dunes

Sand dunes 5 km from town — sunset camel rides are a classic Pushkar experience. ₹300–600 for an hour including sunset. Many guesthouses arrange this.

Pushkar Camel Fair (November)

The legendary Pushkar Camel Fair (Kartik Purnima) is one of the world's most extraordinary events — 200,000 animals traded over 5 days, plus folk performances, competitions, and a vibrant mela atmosphere. The fair dates change each year based on the lunar calendar.

Food & Cafes

Pushkar has exceptional rooftop cafes with lake views — the Sunset Cafe, Rainbow Cafe, and Om Shiva Garden Restaurant are long-time favourites. Try the malpua (sweet pancake) — Pushkar's local speciality.
