Sariska Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan is 200 km from Delhi near Alwar, taking about 4 hours via NH48. It was the first tiger reserve in the world to successfully relocate tigers from Ranthambore. Safari timings: Morning (6:30–10 AM) and Evening (2:30–5:30 PM). Jeep safaris are available — book at the forest department counter in advance. Inside the reserve: Kankwari Fort (a magnificent 17th-century fort), Pandupol Hanuman Temple, and Siliserh Lake are additional attractions near Alwar. Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district, Rajasthan, is one of India's important Project Tiger reserves — and at 200 km from Delhi, one of the most accessible wildlife destinations in North India.

About Sariska

  • Area: 866 sq km of Aravalli hill forest
  • Altitude: 300–720m — dry scrub and deciduous forest
  • Wildlife: Bengal tiger (reintroduced after local extinction, population now growing), leopard, hyena, jungle cat, wild dog (dhole), sambar, nilgai, chital, 200+ bird species
  • Inside the reserve: The Kankwari Fort (a 17th-century fort where Aurangzeb imprisoned his brother Dara Shikoh) and ancient Pandupol Temple are located within the reserve — unique combination of wildlife and history
