1. Monkey Point (1,980m) — Highest Point in Kasauli
The highest accessible point in Kasauli — a 2 km uphill walk from the main bazaar. An Air Force station is at the top (photography restricted). Views on clear days extend to the plains below Chandigarh and the Sutlej river valley. The adjacent Hanuman Temple is sacred — believed to be where Hanuman's footprint fell while carrying the Sanjeevani herb.
2. Mall Road & Lower Mall
Kasauli's quiet, tree-lined commercial street — no vehicles in the lower cantonment area. Heritage buildings, colonial-era churches, and a genteel pace of life make it extraordinary for simply walking.
3. Christ Church (1853)
A beautiful Gothic-style church from 1853 — stained glass windows, original stone walls. Still holds services. Free to visit outside service hours.
4. Kasauli Brewery (Mohan Meakin)
One of Asia's oldest breweries (1820) — the famous Old Monk rum is bottled here along with Lion beer. Tours are available on certain days (advance permission required). Even from outside, seeing this 200-year-old distillery is interesting.
5. Forest Walks
The cantonment roads through deodar, oak, and rhododendron forests make Kasauli one of the best walking destinations in the Western Himalayas. Several marked trails of 3–6 km. Completely quiet, birdsong only.
