The museum inside is excellent. Jaswant Thada is a beautiful white marble cenotaph near the fort. Umaid Bhawan Palace is a magnificent early 20th-century palace — part museum, part luxury hotel. Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) and Sardar Market are the heart of old Jodhpur's bazaar. Mandore Gardens (9 km) has cenotaphs of former Jodhpur rulers. 1. Mehrangarh Fort — India's Most Impressive Fort
Rising 125m above the city on a sheer rocky cliff, Mehrangarh is one of the largest forts in India. Built in 1459, it has never been conquered.

3. Clock Tower & Sardar Market
The heart of old Jodhpur — a vibrant, aromatic market selling spices, textiles, silver jewellery, and handicrafts around a busy clock tower. Best visited in the morning. Try the Makhaniya Lassi at Shahi Samosa — the thick, saffron-infused lassi is a Jodhpur speciality.
4. Umaid Bhawan Palace
Built 1929–1943 — part royal palace (still inhabited by the Jodhpur royal family), part Taj hotel, part museum. The museum section (free or small entry) has vintage Rolls-Royces, clocks, and royal memorabilia. The sheer scale of the palace is staggering.
5. Blue City Walk
The old city's blue-painted houses (Brahmin families traditionally painted blue) are best explored on foot — through narrow lanes, cow-filled alleys, and quiet courtyards. Hire a local guide at Mehrangarh gate.
