Mussoorie — the Queen of the Hills at 2,005m — has been a beloved hill station since 1823. Here's everything worth seeing and doing:
Top Attractions
1. Mall Road — Walk the Full Length
The 3 km pedestrian promenade is the heart of Mussoorie — lined with shops, cafes, and horse-riding points. No vehicles. Best at dusk when the valley lights begin to twinkle below.
2. Gun Hill (2,122m)
Mussoorie's second highest point — reach by ropeway (₹150 return) from Mall Road or a 20-minute walk. On clear days the Bandarpunch and Srikanth peaks are visible. Photography is excellent.
3. Kempty Falls — 15 km from Mall Road
The most visited waterfall near Mussoorie — 40m tall, multi-tiered. Very crowded in season but beautiful. A changing room allows you to bathe in the pools. Entry: free, parking ₹50.
4. Lal Tibba — Highest Point in Mussoorie
2,275m — on clear winter mornings a powerful telescope here shows the Badrinath and Kedarnath peaks. The Landour area around Lal Tibba is the old British cantonment — beautiful colonial bungalows, Char Dukan (four-shop market), and the famous Landour Bakehouse.
5. Company Garden
Municipal garden with fountains, toy train ride, and flower beds — families love it. Entry: ₹30. Best on weekdays when uncrowded.
6. Cloud End — 6 km from Mall Road
A forested estate at the far end of Mussoorie — horse riding through oak and rhododendron forests, beautiful views. The historic Cloud's End Hotel (1838) here is worth a visit.
